My inspiration for the “Apple Tales” series originates in the rich symbolism of apples. Across cultures and languages, apples appear in myths, proverbs, and idioms — sometimes representing wisdom or love, other times – temptation or discord.
In each of my paintings, a main subject interacts with an apple, and some of the titles are well-known phrases featuring this iconic fruit.
An ‘apple of discord’ idiom roots in Greek mythology and means the cause of dispute. In that myth a golden apple sparked a quarrel among three goddesses.
